Ah, yes, when I was younger, much younger, I thought this same thing. Then when I saw my father and then my mother die a long slow agonizing death of cancer, I changed my attitude to Please god, don't let this happen to me! ( I will add that I am a non believer.) I was hoping I would outlive their 83 (father) and 80 (mother). I am now 77 and my new bench mark is that of my 93 year old sister who is still very healthy, gets around on her own two feet, has all her faculties and a boyfriend 12 years younger. I know, I still have to outlive my parents, and I still plan to. But plans are just organized hope. I'm still healthy with aches and pains of the normal variety for older people. But anything could happen at any time. To any of us.
