Thanks for this honest piece on the Depp/Heard cases. I also have recently changed my views after hearing the testimony. I had believed Depp was the abused. Now I see that he is a full on alcoholic and substance abuser who acts exactly like one in his personal relationships. Not to mention the power dynamic between them is way way out of balance.

Yes! I did not even pay much attention to this until this year when it was escalating in the media. I had previously just taken Depp's side because that was what I was hearing, that Heard had been violent toward him. Then I watched some film on them and their relationship and wow did I come away with a different view. Both recorded episodes between them, she even video recorded some. And she did document her bruises. I suddenly knew that she was telling the truth. It may have been a very toxic relationship for them both but she came out far worse. I now believe her. It was so good to read your piece.

I wrote an article here called Banning Abortions Won't Stop it! Your piece goes into how women did indeed seek abortions. I remember being pregnant in the sixties with no options. Abortions were illegal, expensive and far away. And done by people who made it a dangerous option. Then being pregnant with my second child I thought about throwing myself down the stairs. I cannot reconcile this backward step the higher court is going to impose on women. Being in control of our bodies is why we can be productive people in the workplace and in our families. There is the abortion pill and I hope there will be a thriving underground supplying to women who want them.

In every way you have described, and more, the "pro-life" movement is about anything but life. It is indeed about control. No one on the right cares about helping these babies and their mothers after they are born or about preventing unwanted pregnancies through comprehensive birth control education. Women's lives are secondary to the one that has not drawn one breath.

Medical information is private, right? We all get a privacy rights statement when we first see a doctor. They cannot give others your medical information or information about any procedures or treatments you are undertaking. So why doesn't pregnancy and all that is involved with it also private, between a woman and her doctor?

Sorry about your hair loss. But seriously, have you all never seen an Academy Awards show before? What Chris Rock said was tame in comparison to what other comedians have said. And at the end he said "Love you Jada." If Jada had not wanted jokes coming her way she could have worn a wig. If you want to look your best at an Awards Ceremony would you go bald? No I am not blaming her for the violence of her husband. But it did occur to me how easily this could have been avoided.

Will and Jada are in an open marriage, or so they say. So I can imagine Will wanting to show he is The Man who will protect her. Maybe they should just get divorced.
